Big Game Preview
Vital league points are at stake as Bedford battle Coventry for the 191st time with play-off spots on the line as the league reaches the second half of the season. Both sides come into this one currently in the top four, separated by just five points and two places in the Champ table.
Mike Rayer’s men will be desperate to get back to winning ways at the first opportunity after suffering a first defeat since the reverse fixture against Coventry in October. Backed by their loyal #BluesFamily, they’ll be looking for a response on their home patch.
Coventry have had their fair share of the spoils at Goldington Road recently and will again come with confidence, buoyed by a thumping victory over Cornish Pirates on New Year’s Day.
Last Chance Hospitality – CMC Marquee
Final Call! Avoid the January blues with pre-match hospitality in the CMC Marquee, serving a sumptuous three-course luncheon for the final Saturday home fixture before March. Limited tables remain, contact the team to book.
Blues Foundation Day Activation
As well as the action on the pitch, there’s plenty going on off it this Foundation Day as the club’s charitable arm fundraises to support its work across Bedfordshire.
The activation starts by running an Under 10s festival on the back pitch. The clubs partaking will be Bedford Junior Blues, Old Northamptonians, Huntingdon, Bugbrooke and Daventry, who will also form this week’s Guard of Honour, sponsored by Bellway Homes. Make sure you give them all a cheer as they step out onto the pitch to form the pre-match entrance with an array of flags to welcome the teams, and then again at half-time for a lap of honour.
There will also be bucket collections dotted around the ground, hospitality guests can support via pre-match games, and all Eco Cup donations will go to the charity.
If you can’t make it to the game, don’t worry, you can still show your support. You can send a one-off donation just by clicking here and stay up to date by hearing the impact of your generosity by subscribing to our charity’s newsletter here.
Champ Rugby Showcase Fixture
For the fifth time this season, and second at Goldington Road, Bedford are involved in the four-camera showcase game through ClubberTV, with lots of activation planned to suit the occasion.
As well as the pre-match community show, the Champ Rugby trophy will be on display and travelling around the ground throughout the afternoon. If you’d like to have a photograph, pop into the CMC Marquee from 2:30pm as it takes its final stop before kick-off.
Additional Entertainment
Make it a full day of sport with more live action on the TVs to accompany the huge Champ Rugby battle. It’s Premier League football beforehand, then Northampton Saints’ trip to Sale Sharks follows at 5:30pm – available on all TVs around the ground.
Elsewhere, the CMC Marquee is again the place to visit following the final whistle with live music from fan favourite Mark Calder, while the Man of the Match interview again takes place in its familiar home of the Legends Bar.
Food & Drink
After the sellout Boxing Day atmosphere, things return to a more familiar setting this weekend with the usual seven public places to get a pint and four hot food kiosks dotted around the ground, so take a wander around to try them all.
The Genesis Fan Zone is well worth a visit, hosting No.7 Coffee House, the Cabin Bar, Burger Unit and a toasted marshmallows stall to warm you up. Additional food options of Chicken George from the Burrow serving hatch at KO, Taylor’s Kitchen at the Scrum Bar, and a burger van at the main gates are all available.
Club Shop
Fully re-stocked after Christmas! With new kids’ hoodies launching this matchday, there’s something for everyone inside the Blues Club Shop, open from its normal times of two hours before kick-off, half-time and following the final whistle.
