OBITUARY | Mike Howard
![]()
Bedford Blues are deeply saddened of the recent passing of former player, Mike Howard at the age of 40.
Mike made 239 appearances for the club between 2008-17, the second most of the Mike Rayer era at Goldington Road, scoring 15 tries and being part of some incredible moments in the history of the club.
Part of the team which reached the final of the British & Irish Cup in 2010-11, Blues finished inside the Championship’s Top Four on six occasions during this period, including reaching the Play-Off Final in 2012-13.
Joining the club from North Walsham, Goldington Road became his home away from home, being granted a Testimonial Match in May 2017.
Our thoughts are with Nickie, Mike’s family and friends at this difficult time. The Bedford Blues club flag will fly at half-mast through to our next home fixture with Nottingham, where a minute’s applause will be observed before kick-off.
Blues Brother #3387 you’ll be missed.
