TEAM NEWS | Squad named for Cambridge

Posted: 27th March 2026

Mike Rayer has named his squad as Bedford Blues prepare to compete in their final derby fixture of the season with the short hop over to Cambridge tomorrow afternoon (KO 2pm).

Still chance to support the boys in one of the shortest away journeys of the season with tickets available here; or watch the game from the comfort of home via Clubber TV.

Separated by just 32 miles, there’s not as much previous history between the sides as you might perhaps think, with tomorrow’s battle just a seventh throughout history in competitive action.

Blues have triumphed in all the previous battles since a first in 1979 but will be wary of the threat posed by their hosts who have been improving week on week, and looking to put on a show in front of an expected large crowd.

Going into the game Rayer makes six changes, four of which in the forwards and two in the backs division. Included within that there’s the usual front row jersey rotation, Archie Benson returns for the first time since December, and Nicholas Finch helps compose the back row.

In the backs division, Amena Caqusau starts for the first time in a Blues jersey, while Will Maisey returns as part of a couple of positional alterations.

Among the replacements, Toby Thame is set for a first Blues appearance since May 2024. Sonny Tonga’uiha is also back in the fold following his exploits with England U20s in the recent Six Nations competition.

Alex Woolford returns from injury to also take a spot on the bench.
