REPORT | Blues Women complete unbeaten league season

Posted: 25th April 2026

Captain Kelly Hodgson reports as Bedford Blues Women signed off their 2025/26 title winning season with a nine-try 61-0 victory over Ipswich Women.

A dominant home victory saw Bedford Blues Women complete an unbeaten season in style, delivering a performance that summed up everything this squad has been about from day one.

From the first whistle, Blues set the tone with relentless physicality, precision in attack and a defensive line that simply refused to break. Ipswich were kept under constant pressure throughout and, despite their efforts, never looked like finding a way through a rock-solid Blues defence.

The scoreboard kept ticking over as Bedford showed their skill in attack, with clinical finishing and plenty of tries out wide. Quick ball, sharp hands and excellent width allowed the Blues to exploit space, stretching Ipswich across the pitch and capitalising with confidence.

It wasn’t just about the points, though. The defensive effort was just as impressive — disciplined, organised and full of intent.

Katharine Simpson scored four, while Claire Cranfield's two try haul saw her finish the season as the league's top try scorer. Kelly Hodgson, Hunter, Martina Sharp also crossed.

Lucy Middleton's eight successful conversions, for a sixteen point haul, saw her top the statistics for the league's top points scorer. Congratulations to both Lucy and Claire for both contributing over 100 points this season.

This season has been built on effort on and off the pitch, setting new standards and committing to bettering ourselves week in/week out— and it shows.

Unbeaten doesn’t happen by accident — it’s earned. And an early KO allowed for celebrations in the sun for players, supporters and sponsors alike.

As we head into the off-season, we’ll enjoy this moment, but eyes are already on what’s next. Championship Two brings a new level, and we’re under no illusions about the work it will take. We’ll reset, reload, and go again.
