Blues announce first three departures

Bedford Blues can today confirm the first three to depart from Goldington Road following the conclusion of the 2025/26 Elior Champ Rugby Play-Off campaign.
All three players joined the club at the start of the season, and we thank them for their dedication to the team this year and wish them all the luck with their next playing opportunities.
Archie Hosking – Blues Brother #3851
Sadly injury has frustrated Hosking’s season, although his hard work in rehabilitation has been rewarded with four club appearances, including an Elior Champ Rugby debut at Goldington Road against London Scottish in February.
Rafe Witheat – Blues Brother #3853
Another to unfortunately be hampered with injury, suffering a season ending hamstring issue on Ladies Day in October. That restricted Witheat to three appearances, including a try scoring impact in the Baker Brothers Bedfordshire Cup success over Ampthill.
Joe Hill – Blues Brother #3854
Joining the club following an impressive trial last Summer, Hill has been part of a highly competitive wing division this season. He has made nine appearances for the club, including dotting down a try on Derby Day in February.
Blues’ Director of Rugby, Mike Rayer said: “It’s been a largely frustrating season for these lads due mainly to a lack of game-time. They have, however, still added significantly to the whole playing group in many other ways. We wish them well with their respective futures and they will always receive a warm welcome back here at GR.”
