George Worth continues stay in Bedford
Bedford Blues are pleased to conclude another day of re-signings with the announcement that George Worth has agreed to spend next season at Goldington Road.
Blues’ current Ironman, having played more minutes than anyone else this season, Worth has made 27 appearances so far in his debut campaign, adding seven tries.
His versatility has really come to the fore this season, wearing every jersey from 11-15 at some point throughout the campaign, and even spending a small patch of the recent Ealing away fixture in the fly-half position.
On signing up for a second season in Bedford, Worth said: “I’m delighted to have extended my time at Goldington Road for another season.
“This season really has flown by and there’s been so many great memories already. I can honestly say it’s been one of the most enjoyable years of my career to date.
“That’s testament to the group of players, coaches and the organisation as a whole.”
Arriving at Goldington Road with a wealth of experience, Worth has become an integral part of the team this season, winning multiple Man of the Match awards, and having a knack of scoring important tries.
He becomes the 11th re-signing confirmed for next season, following in the footsteps of Oisin Heffernan, Rory Ward, Alex Woolford, Ilan Evans, Tui Uru, James Lennon, Alex Day, Will Maisey, Michael Le Bourgeois and Louis James.
Blues’ Director of Rugby, Mike Rayer added: “George has been one of the best signings we’ve made this year. His rugby IQ is outstanding and equally, his versatility has been quite exceptional for us. A no brainer for us to keep hold of him.
“He’s settled in the squad and is a big personality within the group.”
