James Lennon remains at Goldington Road
Bedford Blues are pleased to announce further continuity within the backs division with the news that scrum half, James Lennon moves into a seventh season as a member of Mike Rayer’s squad.
The 28-year-old, who heads into a fourth season of his second spell at the club, has impressed again with some crucial performances this year, offering great depth at nine alongside skipper Alex Day.
He has been in fine form all season, contributing five tries from 24 appearances, four of which scored at Goldington Road.
Discussing his decision to remain for another season, Lennon said: “Really happy to re-sign again for next season. It’s been a long time at the club now and that’s because it’s a great place to play with great support. Really looking forward to next year.”
Lennon was one of the last players to graduate out of the Blues Academy under Denis Ormesher when he linked up with the first-team squad for the first time ahead of the 2018/19 Championship campaign.
He went on to contribute a number of important moments with statistics of 37 points scored in 42 appearances during his first stint at Goldington Road.
Continuing his development with Richmond in subsequent seasons, Lennon returned in 2023 and earlier this season registered his place in the illustrious Bedford century club. He currently possesses statistics of 110 games played, 21 tries scored.
Blues’ Director of Rugby, Mike Rayer added: “I was really pleased for Jiff to get his 100th game this year.
“He’s been with us for a number of seasons right the way through from the Academy system. He’s shown on occasions again this year that he adds real value to the playing side.”
