Bedford Blues complete a day of triple re-signing announcements with the news that second row Rory Ward has signed on for a third campaign of Elior Champ Rugby at Goldington Road.
The 23-year-old moved back closer to home two years ago following the conclusion of his university studies and has made a noticeable impression in Bedford during that time, featuring in the majority of games for 45 appearances already.
His re-signing announcement completes full continuity in the second row following the day’s earlier news that Alex Woolford and Ilan Evans will also be sticking around for the 2026/27 campaign.
On confirming another season at Goldington Road, Ward said: “I’m very excited to continue on at Goldington Road. I believe this group has a lot more to offer next season and I’m looking forward to being part of that again.”
Alongside Oisin Heffernan, Ward is the joint leading try scorer within the forwards pack this season after a deadly run of form at the start of the season, scoring eight from 24 games.
Away from rugby, he is a Sport and Inclusion Mentor with Bedford Blues Foundation.
Forwards Coach, Cameron Boon added: “We’re excited to keep Rory with us for another season. He’s become a real lineout leader for the group this year, and you can see how much he’s enjoying his rugby.
“There’s still loads of growth left in him as a young lock, and if he keeps enjoying it, we’re sure there’s even more to come next season.”
Blues would like to thank Simply Tree Services for their player sponsorship.
