Dean Adamson moves into twelfth season
Bedford Blues are proud to conclude their ‘Wing Wednesday’ double re-signing announcement with the news that the club’s greatest ever try scorer, Dean Adamson will move into a twelfth season at Goldington Road.
The 33-year-old finished top of the Elior Champ Rugby try standing statistics for the third time in May, following 24 tries in as many games, and continues to set the standards for not just the club but the wider league as well.
He is well on course to giving himself the opportunity to become the first non-kicker to reach 1,000 points in club colours, and would achieve that feat should he replicate his haul last season into 2026/27.
On continuing his journey at Goldington Road, Adamson said: “I feel like somewhat of a broken record, but I will never tire of representing this club and this town.
“It’s an absolute honour to continue wearing the jersey and I think, with such great continuity, that we can achieve great things again moving forwards.
“I was incredibly humbled by everyone’s support of my Testimonial this year and look forward to trying to help this club again.”
Named in both the Champ Rugby Team of the Season and The Rugby Paper Dream Team, Adamson marked his recent Testimonial Year with his best campaign on record, moving up to 176 tries from 228 appearances.
Homegrown winger Adamson, born in the county and a graduate of the Blues Academy set-up, has made more appearances than anyone else in the current squad and becomes the eighth member of the backs division to re-sign for 2026/27.
Director of Rugby, Mike Rayer added: “Dean does exactly what it says on the tin and topped the try scoring charts again this year. He’s a big personality amongst the group and a real fan favourite.
“Most importantly, he adds real value to the club on and off the field.”
