Emily Wallbank named Women’s Players’ Player

After playing a pivotal role in helping Bedford Blues Women secure promotion to Championship Two, Emily Wallbank has been named Players’ Player of the Year for the 2025/26 campaign at the End of Season Gala Dinner.

Playing a variety of roles since the team’s inception in 2020, but specifically featuring at scrum-half this season, Wallbank has become an integral part of the squad and is unquestionably one of the most important players on and off the field.

Making fourteen appearances scoring three tries this campaign, a leader and role model within the playing group, she becomes the fifth winner of this prestigious award, following in the footsteps of Emma Graham, Lucy Middleton, Kelly Hodgson and Hunter in recent seasons.

Bedford Blues Women Head Coach, Eddie Rennell said: “Emily has performed at a very high standard consistently throughout the season, whether that’s clearing out rucks, keeping our tempo high or putting in countless tackles all over the pitch.

“It is great that her fellow players have acknowledged her with this award. I look forward to seeing how she will perform next season in a higher league.”

Bedford Blues Women Captain, Kelly Hodgson added: “Emily is such a worthy winner of the Players’ Player of the Year Award.

“She’s had an incredible season at scrum-half, driving the team forward to play our best rugby. Emily has been instrumental to our success, and I am so pleased she is being recognised for her outstanding play and commitment to the team.”
