James Fish continues time in Bedford

We’re making it ‘FishTruck Friday’ here at Bedford Blues, starting with the news that James Fish has agreed to spend a third season as a permanent member of the squad for the 2026/27 Elior Champ Rugby campaign.
One of the senior figureheads in this year’s front row union and fast approaching 100 appearances in Bedford, Fish has now made a grand total of 92, chipping in with 10 tries across that timeframe.
Speaking about his decision to stay in Bedford, he said: “We've had such a great year, there's a good group of boys and coaches so this was always going to be my first choice.
"We've been very cohesive as a team this year and what we've put onto the training pitch we've been able to put on at the weekend - and we've improved every week.
"It's just a great place to be and we're all desperate to have another run to the play-offs, and who knows, hopefully go one better than last season.”
A highly experienced player, with over 50 Prem Rugby caps before switching to Bedford, Fish has relished the chance of becoming one of the leaders in the pack by offering tutelage to Tommy Herman and the youngsters heading over from Northampton throughout the season.
On retaining more continuity in the front row, Forwards Coach, Cameron Boon added: “Fish has outstanding position-specific skills and is a real leader within the pack.
"He's played a huge amount of rugby at a high level and brings a wealth of experience to the group. We're delighted to have him with us and look forward to him continuing to drive the pack forwards and help set the standards next season.”
