Joey Conway extends spell at Goldington Road
Bedford Blues are pleased to conclude another Super Sunday of re-signings with the news that loosehead prop, Joey Conway has agreed to continue his spell at Goldington Road into a sixth season.
Since arrival in 2021, Conway has been a mainstay in the matchday squad, making 124 appearances. Featured within that includes the Irishman going on an incredible run of featuring in every game from February 2023 until October 2025, a total of 67 matches.
A lethal try scoring threat, the 28-year-old has added 29 during his time at Goldington Road – scoring in last weekend’s Elior Champ Rugby Final.
On re-committing his future, Conway said: “Ever since I joined the club, it's been like a home away from home. Since day one, I've been welcomed and it has a very special place in my heart.
“I cannot wait to continue with this group. There’s a lot of continuity heading into next season and we’re all excited by the challenge of trying to replicate what we achieved this year, and get even stronger.”
Conway becomes the eighth forward confirmed as remaining at Goldington Road following recent announcements for Jamie Jack, Monty Royston, Oisin Heffernan, Rory Ward, Ilan Evans, Alex Woolford and Tui Uru.
The 22/23 Followers Player of the Year has become a real fan favourite since arrival and has grown into one of the leaders of the pack in recent seasons.
Forwards Coach, Cameron Boon said: “We're delighted to have Joey back for another season. He's an explosive prop with great footwork, which isn't something you oftten see from a big man.
"He's always eager to improve his game and develop as a player, and I'm confident he can reach even greater heights in the year ahead."
