Ryan Hutler remains in Bedford
Bedford Blues are pleased to start an afternoon of re-signings in the backs division with the news that Ryan Hutler will continue at Goldington Road for the 2026/27 Elior Champ Rugby campaign.
The former Blues Academy graduate and perennial try scorer returned to the club 12 months ago after a few years away and picked up where he left off with 11 tries from 24 appearances, including a double in the semi-final victory over former employers, Coventry.
One of the most experienced players in the squad, with close to 150 appearances in the second tier, Hutler has made 75 for Bedford across both stints, adding 38 tries.
On continuing his stay at Goldington Road, he said: “Delighted to be staying again at the club where I began my career, it continues to be an honour to represent such a prestigious club.
“We have a great group of lads here and as we proved with the season just gone, we have to potential to achieve big things. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in next season and hopefully setting a new ceiling for this great club.”
Important to the group dynamic on and off the field, Hutler was one of a couple of former players to return last year and help continue the Bedford DNA and culture around the club.
Director of Rugby, Mike Rayer added: “Ryan started the season really well, it was a shame that he then picked up a bit of an injury, but he was given an opportunity in the Ealing game and took it with both hands.
“When he’s fired up, he’s proved what a great finisher he is. Him and Dean give the side so much confidence with their try scoring ability. We are so pleased that Ryan is back with us again next season.”
