Tommy Herman continues front row retention

Posted: 14th June 2026

Bedford Blues begin their final ‘Super Sunday’ with the news that Tommy Herman continues further continuity in the front row by agreeing to remain at Goldington Road for the 2026/27 Elior Champ Rugby campaign.

The 22-year-old has been a revelation since stepping up to the second tier two years ago, hitting the 50-cap barrier in the win at Sixways in April, and ensuring a great battle with James Fish for the jersey every week.

On taking his spell into a third full season, Herman said: “Really happy to re-sign and continue my journey with the club.

“The loss in the final still hurts, but I honestly believe that it will spur myself and the group to continue to drive the standards and try and reach another one.

“From a personal standpoint, I’m keen to keep improving my game and learning off people like James Fish.”

Chipping in with 11 tries this season, Herman has an incredible strike rate against nearest neighbours, Ampthill with five of them coming against the Mob.

Forwards Coach, Cameron Boon added: “Tommy is a young hooker who plays with real energy and enthusiasm. He's excellent in the loose, uses his body well in contact, and brings plenty of intensity whenever he's on the field.

"I've no doubt he'll continue to compete, develop and improve next season. I'm excited to see just how far his hard work can take him."

Just two more re-signings to make before all retention from last season is confirmed and announced, with new faces set to arrive through the door in the coming weeks in time for pre-season in July.

That return ready for the new season coincides with the deadline of the Early Bird Season Ticket prices, so don’t hesitate, purchase yours now to secure a spot for the entire campaign at the best prices! Buy yours here.

Blues would like to thank player sponsors, Mark A Howe for the continued support.
