Tuilagi kickstarts final week of re-signings

Posted: 8th June 2026

Fresh from winning a second successive Players’ Player of the Year Award, Fred Tuilagi kickstarts a final week of re-signings at Bedford Blues by committing to a third season at Goldington Road.

The 28-year-old, who celebrates his birthday tomorrow, has been a revelation since arriving two years ago, making 52 appearances and scoring 16 tries to become a real leader on and off the pitch.

On turning down interest from elsewhere to stay in Bedford, Tuilagi said: “Goldington Road has the feeling of home – the family environment has been extremely big for me. I wanted to stay because the club have done so much for me, so this is my way of giving back to the coaches, my fellow players and the supporters.

“I’m proud to represent Bedford Blues. After a tough end to the season, we want to come back bigger and stronger and hopefully we can continue this upwards momentum.”

A mainstay in the squad when available, there aren’t many players who win the prestigious Blues Players’ Player of the Year Award twice, even less in successive seasons, and never before in their first two seasons at the club.

Director of Rugby, Mike Rayer added: “We are delighted that Fred is staying here at GR, he is such a massive influence on and off the field.

"We also think that like everyone else in the squad, there is always room for growth, and we want Fred to keep showing that desire to become an even better player. He will drive standards, there's no doubt about that.”

Blues would like to thank Grafton Motorcycles for their continued player sponsorship of Tuilagi.

Stay tuned throughout the week as we continue the final re-signings ahead of next season, as our #BluesFamily starts to take shape ahead of an exciting 2026/27 campaign.
