MATCH FOCUS | Opener v Cambridge for Baker Brothers Cup
Bedford Blues ramp up for the 2026/27 campaign by hosting National One outfit, Cambridge with the Baker Brothers Cup on the line in their first home fixture of the new season this Friday (Gates open 5pm; Kick Off 7:30pm).
The Derby Day fixture is being played in memory of Blues Season Ticket Holder, Jonno Garland who sadly passed away at last season’s meeting between the two sides at Ellgia Fields.

Big Game Preview
Mike Rayer will field a squad featuring all new summer arrivals, this Friday under the lights at Goldington Road as the home faithful get the chance to meet fresh faces in blue.
Under the late summer sun, expect the team to try some new moves and patterns as preparations for the new season continue and they look to retain a trophy won 12 months ago.
Lining up for Cambridge this week are likely to be previous members of this parish, Ben Adams, Billy Walker and Joe Hill, as well as many new faces as part of their Summer overhaul.
Craig Newby’s side have the advantage of match experience under their belt, having secured victories against Hertford and Colchester as part of a triangular mini-series last weekend.

Food, Drink and Entertainment
Head to the ground early from gates opening at 5pm to sample everything we have to offer! Please Note: The Bushmead Gate will be closed on Friday, with the Main Gates and Hospital Gate open.
All venues around the ground will be open, excluding the CMC Marquee, which is closed for this match only. That means there’s still plenty of places to beat the queues and enjoy the return of rugby with a drink in hand!
An ice cream van will be joining us in the Mini Fan Village, plus there’s four hot food offerings dotted around the ground, including Taylor’s Kitchen from the Scrum Bar serving hatch and the usual kiosks.
There is no live music post-game this Friday, but please stick around to either mix with the players on the pitch after the final whistle, head to the Legends Bar for the Man of the Match interview, or cram into the Burrow for the remainder of Arsenal v Coventry in the Premier League’s opening fixture of the new season.

Season Ticket Holder Update
Don’t forget, this is the first of 16 men’s matches included in the 26/27 Season Ticket package. All ST holders who paid for a Physical Season Ticket Card should have been sent email communications this week in regard to collection from a special gazebo at Friday’s game, contact us here if you haven’t received.

While the Goldington Road Ticket Office is closed on Friday, the gazebo distributing Season Ticket Cards just in-front of that area outside the main gates will also double as the location to buy match tickets. Please Note: This is a cashless facility.
Programmes will be on sale for just £1 this week and also available from the gazebo, or internally from the Club Shop or bars.
