Mike Rayer has named a 25-man squad as Bedford Blues prepare to make their return to home soil under the Friday Night Lights, hosting Cambridge with the Baker Brothers Cup on the line.

After 83 days away, Rayer’s men will step out onto the field tomorrow for the first of two pre-season fixtures over the next three weeks, looking to retain local bragging rights against Craig Newby’s side, who impressed in their own pre-season opener last weekend.
Contained within the extended squad sees all four Summer signings set for their club debuts, with Marcus Kershaw, Will Davies-King and Dan Eckersley – featuring against his former employers – all starting and Ben Dufficy ready to make an impact off the bench.
Elsewhere among the replacements, there are also first appearances in club colours for Raff Hewitt and Ollie Broughton who make guest appearances under the Friday Night Lights.
Having been sidelined since March, Louis James has made a welcome return over the Summer and will lead the side out on the occasion of his 50th club appearance. Will Maisey will captain the side at Goldington Road.
