S.O.S: Save Our Scrum
![]()
For more than a century, The Scrum Bar has been part of Bedford Blues. Now’s your time to save our dearest bar and put your name into our history.
It’s been here through generations of players, supporters, families and friends. It’s where people have gathered on matchdays, celebrated big moments, shared a post-match pint and spent plenty of time telling stories, making friends and enjoying being part of the Blues Family.
It’s a familiar part of Goldington Road, standing since 1910, and for many people, it’s part of what makes coming to Bedford Blues feel like coming home.
But after more than 100 years, the building needs some attention.
What is S.O.S?
S.O.S stands for Save Our Scrum.
We are looking to crowdfund as the roof needs replacing, facilities need upgrading and accessibility needs improvement. This building is very important to us, and we want to see it at Goldington Road for the next 100 years, so we need to make it safe, welcoming, functionable and continue to be loved for years to come.
Why The Scrum?
We have been issued with advice from various inspections on what we need to do in order to keep the Scrum Bar doors open next year. And we tell you…. The Scrum Bar is NOT for closing!
The Scrum Bar is more than just a bar. It’s part of our history, our fabric, our family. Everyone will have their own story. Maybe yours involves a pre-match pint, a celebration, a post-match gathering, a friendship made and many a memory created.
£100,000 Target
The fundraising target for S.O.S is £100,000. Every contribution will help us get closer to starting the works and protecting The Scrum Bar for the future.
Throughout the season, we’ll be keeping track of our progress and celebrating each milestone we reach. Expect fundraising challenges, events and plenty of ways to get involved as we work towards the target.
We’ll share the progress along the way, so everyone can see just how far the campaign has come.
Leave Your Mark on The Scrum Bar and be part of the furniture
There’s also an opportunity to become a permanent part of The Scrum.
As part of the campaign, we’ll be offering supporters the chance to have their name displayed behind the bar, when making a donation of £100 or more. You will have little piece of Bedford Blues history with your name on it, in a place that has been part of the club for more than 100 years.
Help us Take the Roof Off and Save our Scrum!
