SUNDAY | Blues Women back at Goldington Road

Posted: 4th November 2026

The only opportunity to watch live rugby at Goldington Road this weekend comes on Sunday afternoon as Bedford Blues Women host Old Albanians Saints II (KO 2pm).

Discounted tickets remain available online until midnight Saturday; get yours while you still can by clicking here.

Big Game Preview

This Sunday gives Eddie Rennell’s side an opportunity to bounce back immediately following a frustrating defeat to Sheffield Tigers last time out.

Despite the result, Blues Women remain top of the league with 14 points out of the 20 available, and face an Old Albanians Saints II side that would be above them in the table had they not forfeited their fixture on Matchday Three.

Because Old Albanians Saints First XV are at Championship One level, this prevents the Second XV from getting promoted even if they won the league, which was the case last season when their all-mighty conquering squad won every league game.

As is the case for all fixtures in the first half of the season, this is the first meeting between the respective women’s sides of Bedford and Old Albanians (either First or Second XV).

Team News

Just a week between fixtures, but Eddie Rennell should still be able to call upon pretty much a full squad this weekend with the team coming through the last fixture relatively unscathed.

Full team news will follow on Friday morning as Claire Cranfield – who currently has 45 club tries to her name – continues her crusade to be the first to reach 50 for Blues Women.

What follows Sunday’s clash?

There are still two other home fixtures before 2026 is out, firstly in three weeks’ time on 29th November, then a Saturday fixture on 19th December to conclude the calendar year.

In addition, there are two away trips and some long journeys coming up – next taking in Sutton Coldfield (22nd November) and Bridgnorth (13th December).

On the TVs – England v Australia (Nations Championship)

Head to the Scrum Bar immediately after the final whistle on the hallowed turf to catch the remainder of the England v Australia fixture at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham (KO 3:10pm).

The match is the first of four internationals that Steve Borthwick’s men will play this month, as they jostle for position in the Northern Hemisphere table ahead of Finals Weekend.

Remembrance Day – Two Minutes Silence

Before the game, both sides, officials and spectators will come together for a two minute silence on Remembrance Day, including The Last Post & Reveille being sounded.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We Will Remember Them.
