TEAM NEWS | Five changes for Doncaster

Mike Rayer has named his squad as Bedford Blues look to maintain their strong start to the 2022/23 Championship season with a trip to Doncaster Knights tomorrow (KO 2:30pm).

A relatively new fixture with a first meeting in 2005, yet not withstanding its drama already with an average of 41.3 points scored, Blues will need a strong performance this time around against a Knights side that last tasted defeat at home in the league back in April 2021.

For the 36th meeting between the two teams, Rayer makes a total of five changes to the side which edged a 13-try thriller against Championship newbies, Caldy last weekend.

There are two changes to the backs division which was on song all afternoon at Goldington Road as captain Alex Day is handed the starting scrum half jersey, while Seán French is also included from the off.

In the front row, there is a double change as Jack Hughes is handed a first start of the campaign following some strong performances off the bench to kickstart the campaign, and Corrie Barrett is chosen as the starting tighthead.  

The final alteration sees a reshuffle in the back five. Having returned last weekend, Jordan Onojaife is this week deemed fit to start and joins Robin Williams in the engine room. Dragons RFC loanee Huw Taylor swaps to blindside flanker while Jac Arthur is on the other side of the scrum.

Among the replacements, we welcome Lewis Holsey into the #BluesFamily as short-term cover from Worcester Warriors, and is in line for an immediate debut tomorrow following an injury picked up by Monty Rosyton this week.

Royston joins Osman Dimen, Luke Frost, Alex Woolford, Jamie Elliott and Louis Grimoldby on the treatment table.
